twitter automation contest, soon to be released

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

For all my loyal readers, I would like to tell you about a twitter contest I am hosting.
It is for a tool of mine called twitter automation.
This is simply a tool that allows you to schedule tweets, posting them when the time comes, litterally putting twitter on autopilot!
You can’t afford to miss this deal — it’s only available through this twitter contest!
I may be offering it for sail some time soon — but who wouldn’t want to get it for free?
I leave the decision up to you.
For all of you who will make the right choice, the link is http://tweetsw.in/146/
If you want to keep tabs on mtgames contests, then go to http://mtgames.org/contest.html
I urge you to get this one time offer, starting now, lasting for a week!
Two winners will be drawn on Sunday, January 9, 2010, and I will email their prize to them.
Thanks for supporting mtgames, and I hope to see you get this great offer!
-Michael.

u4u.be is live!

Friday, December 4th, 2009

A few days ago, I installed a script called tighturl on my u4u.be account.
It is now successfully working, and you may use it to shorten urls.
You can visit the url shortening page at http://u4u.be/.
I am currently looking into creating an api for my url shortening service, so that others can use it in their applications.
But for now, just visit http://u4u.be/ and enjoy!

Mtgames.org has moved

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

A few weeks back I moved mtgames.org to a new server.
I am now successfully hosting mtgames.org, technologywizard.mtgames.org, moo.mtgames.org, ai5hf.mtgames.org, and troop5.mtgames.org on my linode.
For those who don’t know what a linode is, it is a server run under linux.
It is what is called a vps, or Virtual Private Server, meaning more than one server os runs on one actual server hardware.
So far, mtgames.org and all other websites seem to be running smoothly.
Along with all the websites, I am also running two moos off the server.
One is at mtgames.org:2285, and that is the one called Dragons MOO which was previously at loohosting.com:2285.
The other one is at mtgames.org:8328, and that was the one named Hunt which was previously up at mcp-server.com:8328.
I may be putting another moo or two up in the near future, so just keep your eyes on this blog!
Until then, have a happy and safe web-surfing experience!

.de domains released, url shortener needs your help

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Today, the Denic released 1, 2, and 3 letter .de domains to the public.
This is an amazing step forward for the domain community, as it will allow more custome name spaces on the web.
However, in the middle of this, my url shortener still needs a name.
I was thinking about getting a 1 or 2 letter .de domain.
I need your help, however, to think of a name, and also make sure it isn’t already taken.
Unfortunately, this may not be as easy as you think.
I was trying out random domain combinations, and it seems almost all of the domains were taken.
It leads me to believe that someone used a program to get as many 1, 2, and 3 letter .de domains as possible, to be sold later.
Anyway, any help is deeply appreciated.
-Michael.

url shortener idea, please comment

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

I just had the idea strike me that I could set up a url shortener.
This would help bring traffic to this site, and would give me another identity on the web.
I was thinking of the domain l2s.be, which is as short as bit.ly, and would stand for long 2 short.
I would like to hear my reader’s perspective on this matter, however.
Would it be worth my time to set up a url shortener? Would there be people who would use it? All questions that need answering.
Feel free to ask me any questions you have about this idea, and I will do my best to answer them.
Also, if you have any questions that also need to be answered, feel free to post them as well in the comments.
-Michael.

website maintanence

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I am writing to tell all that the website upgrades seem to have gone perfectly, and there should be no more reason for errors or slowdowns.
If there are, email me at webmaster@mtgames.org
Thanks,
-Michael.
Edit: All that is affected is the email, which is now working fine for the moment, and you shouldn’t have to worry about that anyway. :P .
edit 2: Everything is up and running as normal. Now to remove the admin announcement…

Website downtime

Monday, October 5th, 2009

I am posting today to notify you, maybe a little late, of some website downtime that was experienced on Thursday, 1 October 2009.
From about 5:30 P.M. CDT to about 6:30 P.M. CDT, our hosting provider, dot5hosting.com, experienced a datacenter outage, which partially disabled some websites.
There was the ability to access our website, but most websites were moving slowly, and ours timed out most of the time.
There will be some scheduled maintanence this week to make sure this type of problem does not happen again, but apart from that, it should be smoothe sailing from here on.
As a side note, I am attempting to put in an admin announcements section on all pages of my site, so if this ever happens again you will know more readily.
Email me with any questions at webmaster@mtgames.org
Thanks,
-Michael.

space race has been replaced

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Hi all loyal followers,
I have recently replaced space race 2285 with the new “Dragons MOO”.
I figured there were enough space MOOs out there, so I am going to model this one along the lines of the Inheritance cycle: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and the fourth book by Christopher Paolini.
The connection and website info is still the same:
loohosting.com:2285 to connect and http://moo.mtgames.org/ for the website.
I hope to see you on Dragons MOO!

moos, moos, and more moos

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Hi all fans of sr2285,
I have decided to pursue my fortune as a mud developer, so sr2285 will be going down.
I will hopefully have another moo up in my spare time, maybe along the lines of a book series I like, not giving many details away at this point.
This dicision was influenced by the fact that there are so many space-based moos out there (don’t give up hope, I will hopefully make the mud space-based), and the fact that my moo has some very amazingly annoying bugs which have absolutely no reason to exist.
Anyway, if you have any votes on the theme of my next moo, please email me at moo@mtgames.org
In the meantime, you may check out my moo homepage at http://moo.mtgames.org/
Also check out my friends moo at http://hunt.mtgames.org/
I hope to see you later on whatever mud/moo I run into you on.
-Michael, webmaster.
