A few days ago, I installed a script called tighturl on my u4u.be account.
It is now successfully working, and you may use it to shorten urls.
You can visit the url shortening page at http://u4u.be/.
I am currently looking into creating an api for my url shortening service, so that others can use it in their applications.
But for now, just visit http://u4u.be/ and enjoy!

.de domains released, url shortener needs your help
Friday, October 23rd, 2009Today, the Denic released 1, 2, and 3 letter .de domains to the public.
This is an amazing step forward for the domain community, as it will allow more custome name spaces on the web.
However, in the middle of this, my url shortener still needs a name.
I was thinking about getting a 1 or 2 letter .de domain.
I need your help, however, to think of a name, and also make sure it isn’t already taken.
Unfortunately, this may not be as easy as you think.
I was trying out random domain combinations, and it seems almost all of the domains were taken.
It leads me to believe that someone used a program to get as many 1, 2, and 3 letter .de domains as possible, to be sold later.
Anyway, any help is deeply appreciated.

url shortener idea, please comment
Saturday, October 10th, 2009I just had the idea strike me that I could set up a url shortener.
This would help bring traffic to this site, and would give me another identity on the web.
I was thinking of the domain l2s.be, which is as short as bit.ly, and would stand for long 2 short.
I would like to hear my reader’s perspective on this matter, however.
Would it be worth my time to set up a url shortener? Would there be people who would use it? All questions that need answering.
Feel free to ask me any questions you have about this idea, and I will do my best to answer them.
Also, if you have any questions that also need to be answered, feel free to post them as well in the comments.
